With somewhere in the region of 80,000 different hardwoods in existence around the world, it is no surprise and with some relief that the number which are produced in substantial quantities for the veneer industry is a little less.

Those species that have been turned into veneer form are what are generally termed as 'decorative hardwoods'. These are species that are both commercially viable to produce as veneer and most importantly, provide an aesthetically pleasing decorative effect.

With this in mind the industry concentrates its activities around turning approximately 100 different species of decorative hardwoods into 'commercial face veneer' and it is with these woods that Richards Veneers concerns itself.
